A new way to search profiles

ok, so tonight I wanted to search profiles by someone's name, gender, and location to see if they had a zone account. But I realized that it was impossible.
my suggestions, and I do hope it gets read, is that they make a filter where you can type in known info and it will search the database for matches.
does that make sense?
maybe there could be a separate space for someone's name, that they could of course leave blank or put in whatever they felt like.
It would just make searching easier.
how hard would this be?

actually, i like this idea. :). it would make searching easier, and it shouldn't be too hard to set the layout up, all you'd need is a few extra boxes

I would love to be able to search via location.

I also think this could have some possibilities, provided you could take yourself out of the searching pool, if it was by personally identifiable information (not sure if that made sense out of my brain.) Will pass along.

I think searching by location would be brilliant. Searching by country should be very easy to do to start with

hmmm ok. here is my suggestions. there must be few combos as

real name?

Nick Name?

User id?

Premium or non-premium member?

sex?

country?

with or without audio profile?

with or without tex profile?

that's all I guess.

real name and user ID i'm not sure about, real name because it's not part of the profile, and you may not know the user number.

i think the search thing should go:
username

with or with out audio profile

age range

gender

premium or not

then a list of countries and you select which one and press search.

there could also be a box where you could enter interests, and find people with the same interest as you, with out having to put it in your profile and go click on the interests.

talking of searching, i'd love to see a board style search where you can search as follows:

username or user ID

board category

posts or threads

posted in, then like a list, last month, last 6 months etc.

this way for example, if i wanted to find all the threads raaj started in the joke board, or replies to say, a topic that was started ages ago but never really looked at, i can do this via the new search tool

I like these ideas, especially the one about searching the Boards.

they could reformat profiles so we could search by
user name/id
real name
age range
location: country
location: state (for the US)
interests:
gender:

those would be the most important.

Shortly after joining this site, I wanted to find out if there were any my fellow-countrymen (and women) on here.

The only remote methd I had of doing this was by typing the word "Irish" or "Ireland" into the searc bar. This produced a few results, but only becausecertain users had those words in their username, so while it wasn't accurate, it was a good way to go about it. Now, there are probably a few from Ireland who don't have either of those words in their username, so there's no way of finding out any further, other than trawl through all the profiles.

Some folk, for whatever reason, have "United States" in the country box, even though they are not resident there, so if ther was a search by country facility, whatever about location, it wouldn't show up appropriately either.

That said, in the online or virtual world, nothing can be proved forreal, so to speak.

One feature I do like when checking profiles is their board posts, whereby it is possible to get an idea of a person's mentality by reading through what they've written.
